Cold-blooded John Murtha was wrong about the Haditha marines. Barack Obama was wrong about Haditha, too. In May 2006 antiwar Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) accused US marines of killing innocent Iraqis "in cold blood" after the former news magazine TIME published a piece of Al-Qaeda propaganda about an incident in Haditha, Iraq.
In May 2006 antiwar Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) also announced that there was a grand coverup to to stifle the story: Notice the ABC headline: "Worse than Abu Ghraib"Murtha insisted there was a coverup-- There wasn't. Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani was found not guilty today on all charges. That makes 7 of 8 marines who have now had their charges dismissed. Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani became the 7th of 8 marines cleared of wrongdoing in the Haditha, Iraq killings in 2005.
CBS News reported:
A military judge has dismissed charges against a Marine officer accused of failing to investigate the killings of 24 Iraqis. Col. Steven Folsom dismissed charges Tuesday against Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani after defense attorneys raised concerns that a four-star general overseeing the prosecution was improperly influenced by an investigator probing the November 2005 shootings by a Marine squad in Haditha.
The charges were dismissed without prejudice, meaning they can be refiled, but Folsom excluded Marine Forces Central Command from future involvement. Chessani was the highest-ranking officer implicated in the case.
*If Murtha had any character or a shred of class and backbone he would resign and go home to wallow in the disgrace that he is. He is a perfect example of what most liberals think about the military and their own country. If he won't leave, someone needs to put his old ass out to pasture.
